2010/2011 Oval Season is coming soon! |
|
Michiana RC's Oval Season starts soon! Stay tuned! Alrighty, here's the full race report from the Madness! Starting at noon time on Saturday, racers started piling into Michiana RC for the Fourth Annual Oval Madness. Just about all the local racers, and some of our friends from Michigan, Ohio and other areas made the trip, with 78 entries in total! In Losi Mini Sliders, it was Dave Kemper taking the early TQ, but Daren Miller came back to TQ the event. In the B-Main, Mark Linn held off his dad, Steve to take the win. In the A-Feature, Daren and Dave swapped the lead, and Daren Miller went on to win the A-Feature, with Dave all over his tail at the end- the margin of finish was .383! NIPS points leader Chuck "Orange Julius" Bolin qualified and finished third overall. "Slider" Wade Krull was fourth, with Matt Laughlin fifth and Tim Waaso sixth. In the 10th Scale Sliders, it was all Kyle Pittenger, TQ'ing and winning the A-Feature in convincing fashion. Colin Hardy finished second, with Chuck Bolin finishing third. Jim Clark was a scratch in the feature. SuperStock was the largest class, with 33 total entries! Your current Snowbirds champ Brian Deel TQ'ed the event over Travis Russell and Anthony Searls. In the F-Main, Taylor Baney cruised to victory over Brandon Caudill and Scott Stewart. In the E-Main, Scott Haines took the win over Jason Clevenger and Jason Hughes. Nathan Hughes, Michael Dnacy and Daren Miller rounded out the E-Main. In the D-Main, Cory Ellinger took the win over the tight battle between Charlie McLeod and Lenny Leyba, who finished second and third, .249 apart at the line. Kenny Selner, Mike Linn and Terry Smith rounded out the D-Main. In the C-Main, Kyle Grindle led early, but lost the lead to Tim Waaso, who took the win over Thiler Claxton and Kyle Grindle, with Doug Thornton, Michael Thayer and Josh Carlton rounding out the field. The B-Main saw Christian Falkowski run away with the early lead, only to be caught and passed by Corey Bedwell at lap 66, who went on to win. Christian ended up second, with Jeremy Smith, Bob Hendry, Jesse Carlton and Bobby Blount rounding out the B-Main. The A-Feature had Brian Deel lead wire to wire, with Travis Russell close behind, with Anthony Searls finishing third. Dave Hoaglin, Randy Wagoner and Charlie "C3" Flanagan rounded out the top six in the show. Pro Stock once again saw Brian Deel take the TQ honors over Todd Falkowski and Travis Russell. In the D-Main, Michael Dancy took the win with Steve Williams and John Sevison in second and third. Jeff Conde was a scratch in the main. In the C-Main, Mr. Excitement himself, Jon Tully took the win over Ronnie Robinson, Josh Carlton and Jim Clark. In the B-Main, Johnny "Tanlines" Sparks and David Claxton put on a good battle finishing 1-2, .724 apart in the end. Dustin Williams was third, with Jason Haines and Ken Bajdek rounding out the B. In the A-Feature, Brian Deel took the early lead with Todd Falkowski in tow. Todd caught Brian in traffic and made the pass. Contact between the two allowed Travis to get by Brian, for a Falkowski, Russell, and Deel 1-2-3. Derek Lanway finished fourth, with Charlie "C3" Flanagan and Mark Ciecek rounding out the feature. In Outlaw Sprints, it was decided to run 7 in the A, as one car in the B scratched. Ken Bajdek took TQ honors just over Travis Russell and Jon Tully. Ken took the early lead, but couldn't navigate lapped traffic, ultimately ending his race early. Travis Russell drove a clean race to take the A-Feature win over Jon Tully and Pete Russell. Doug Graber, Jesse Carlton, Ken Bajdek and Kyle Pittenger rounded out the A-Feature. Lastly, the "Dirt Late Models" ran, with Dustin Shriver TQ'ing the event. These are touring cars with drift tires made of ABS or PVC, and late model bodies. In the A-Feature, Dustin ran away and never looked back, taking the win. Dave Goodnight and Pat Syson battled back-and-forth the whole race, with Dave taking second from Pat. Ken Selner took fourth, with Ryan Flatt taking fifth. In short, the Madness was one awesome race! If you missed it, sorry about your luck! A great amount of thanks go out to Ken Donathen and Pat Syson- tech ran great all day (with the exception of the temp gun disappearing). A special thank you goes out to Charlie Flanagan / Muddslide Motorsports, as well as Travis and Pete Russell of Pete Russell's Hobby Shop / russellrc.com for all of the door prizes donated. See ya next year!!!!!

A map and further details are found by clicking HERE . Expect to see a showing of cars running Pro-Stock and Super-Stock- all based on BRL rules. Pro Stock will run 21.5/2C LiPo, 13.5 / 4 Cell NiMh, and 10.5 / 1C LiPo all together. Super Stock will run 17.5 / 4 Cell NiMh & 13.5 / 1C LiPo together. Also, Losi Mini Sliders and 10.5-powered outlaw sprint cars will run as well, along with a truck class (basic offroad trucks with 13.5's. Rules will be based on BRL rules for the applicable classes, Mini-Sliders are box-stock- any questions on any class rules, see our website's rules area by clicking HERE. The track itself is a 60x36 track, with a 12' wide infield. Runline is 120', and the carpet is genuine CRC Fasttrack Ozite. Corners will have "ice" (flat sheet of plastic) cut for the corners, with a divided infield- making it easy on cars. Suggestions for tires varies by class- we'll post something shortly in the forums, however "common" tire combinations will work fine. Scoring is done with RC Scoring Pro- the best system out there. It accepts personal transponders, and items such as re-sorts and main setups can be done in seconds. MRCR's goal is to have a fun oval racing envorinment where the hobbyist to the seasoned pro perpping for a BRL race can race side-by-side and have a good time. Again, stay tuned to the forums and here on the main page for updates! |
